Radiology

Radiology is a medical speciality mainly aimed at providing support for diagnosis by means of imaging techniques. It is as varied as the devices and technologies that it uses: these range from scanners to MRI, and include, among others, ultrasound, angiography or echography.

Radiology is known as a ‘support’ speciality, and caters to patients of all ages, coming from Accident & Emergency, from the various departments in the hospital, or sent by their doctor for a check-up or an outpatient intervention. In addition to their diagnostic imagery activity, radiologists carry out various interventions, such as embolisation (local injection of a product to prevent a blood vessel from bleeding), or the insertion of catheters or drains in different parts of the body.

Valais Hospital employs numerous radiologists who are specialised in the specific fields of this discipline, such as neuroradiology, interventional radiology, female body imaging, oncological or abdominal imagery. In the field of radiology, Valais Hospital has also been benefiting from a cooperation agreement with the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG) since 2008.
